[Promoting progressive and developmental ideology for the prosperity of Nigeria]

JOURNAL OF POLITICS, ECONOMY AND DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

Journal of Politics, Economy, and Development in Nigeria (JPED) is a quarterly journal published by the United Kingdom Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria. It welcomes articles by academics and practitioners examining the socio-political, economic and developmental issues affecting Nigeria. Also encouraged are notes on research in brief and book reviews. We accept all appropriate methodologies including social-scientific, case studies, philosophical, legal/historical and critical articles. Conference papers are also published periodically as Conference Proceedings.
The journal aims to showcase material relevant to the political progress of Nigeria (linked where applicable to international development) as well as reports on the Nigerian state from a variety of perspectives. The material should be original and professionally presented though we welcome a diversity of styles. Papers presenting the multidisciplinary analysis of contemporary Nigerian issues in the new globalized world order are strongly encouraged. Also encouraged are studies that seek to link political ideologies to national cultures, and issues contributing to under-development in Nigeria. Issues of special concern are the challenges arising from contemporary transformations of social, political, economic and infrastructural challenges in a maturing democracy. We also invite articles that explore the various ways in which Diaspora Nigerians have impacted and/or may impact politics and development in Nigeria. The editors of JPED are interested in research on ethnic discrimination, corruption, secularism, multiculturalism and the role religion has played supporting or opposing these practices in Nigeria.
Nigeria today is in need of ideas, visions and guidance to more effectively direct her vast natural, human and intellectual capital and harness the beneficial values of the African community spirit in furtherance of national development, peace, security, human dignity and social justice. In the midst of unprecedented personal and corporate wealth, millions of Nigerians experience increasing poverty, inequality, and injustice. With the increasing occurrence of communities being torn apart by strife based primarily on ethnic and/or religious interests and prejudices, we need to disseminate well-researched ideas and opinions with the potential to drive knowledge acquisition and help fashion the institutional culture required for free, fair and effective governance.

Audience:
The Journal’s main audience includes politicians, scholars, political activists, professionals of all disciplines and students in higher education.
